Reasons to be excited Ski Sunday is back

If you’re anything like us, you’re buzzing that BBC’s Ski Sunday is back on our screens. Winter sports, nail-biting moments and, of course, Graham Bell. It doesn’t get much better than this!

In case you’ve been living under a rock, Ski Sunday is a skiing and snowboarding show broadcasted from the Alps – aired on a Sunday. Who’d have guessed?

To celebrate the return of the show, we thought we’d fan girl a little and share our reasons to be excited Ski Sunday is back! It’s been running since 1978 and is actually celebrating its 40th birthday this year, so it’s bound to be a good one!

Let’s crack on!

The return of that theme tune

When you think about it, TV theme tunes can be pretty damn iconic when they stand the test of time. Think of the infamous guitar riffs of Fleetwood Mac’s ‘The Chain’ set to images of burning rubber. Or maybe Barry Stoller’s Match of the Day theme tune sounding the alarm for Saturday night football. Even Keith Mansfield’s Grandstand score has a place firmly secured in our hearts.

But nothing quite comes close to Ski Sunday!

If the theme tune for Ski Sunday doesn’t send chills down the back of your neck, you don’t have a soul!
It’s almost as famous as the show itself and has remained pretty much unchanged since the show began!

Sundays aren’t the same without this banger of a tune!

The presenters are back

We can’t ignore it any longer. Graham Bell and Ed Leigh are back on our screens!!!

All week, we find ourselves excited to hear Graham Bell’s infinite wisdom and delivery each Sunday.
He’s a legend of the sport, representing Britain in five winter Olympics and even trying his hand at the infamous Hahnenkamm race.

And let’s not forget the awesome Ed Leigh who completes the bromance.

The drama

Who doesn’t love a bit of drama?

Ski Sunday really does crank it up a gear! Each week we’re on the edge of our seats before anything has really happened.

Skiing and snowboarding is dangerous, Ski Sunday won’t let you forget that.

It gets us in the mood!

Nothing gets us in the mood for hitting the slopes more than Ski Sunday! If you don’t have a ski holiday to look forward to, you better hide the credit card – the temptation to book a one-way trip to Val d’Isere is tough to ignore.

It gets us pumped for the Winter Olympics

Does anyone know why the Winter Olympics doesn’t get the same love and attention as the regular Olympics? We’ve been asking for years!

Electrifying, nail-biting and edge-of-your-seat stuff. What’s not to love?

Ski Sunday’s arrival is just what we need to get in the mood for the Winter Olympics in February 2018.

Keep your eyes peeled, Ski Sunday actually showcases a few future Olympic hopefuls. We could be watching future medal winners!

Realistically, this is just a teaser of what we can expect in February – but we still love it! The show’s packed with its own unique races and thrills.

It’s infectious!

So, we might not be on the slopes ourselves but this is the closest you’ll get (from the comfort of your sofa at least).

We might be a little biased here, but we’ll take a rapid downhill race over watching otters on Countryfile, any day of the week!
